Brooke Cox is a Certified Physician Assistant who graduated locally from The University of Emory & Henry Master of Physician Assistant Studies program. While she now lives along the coast of South Carolina, Southwest Virginia will always be home.
She is passionate about serving this region and caring for her neighbors, even from afar.Brooke has experience in Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, but one of the unique aspects of being a Physician Assistant is the opportunity to care for patients across multiple specialties. Her greatest passion lies in building meaningful relationships with patients and creating a safe, supportive environment where they feel heard and understood. This passion naturally extends into her interest in psychology and psychiatric care. She is fascinated by the mind's ability to change and adapt through neuroplasticity and enjoys helping patients understand how this remarkable process can support healing and long-term wellness.
Outside of medicine, Brooke enjoys spending time at the beach with her husband and their dog, Boone. On rainy days, you can usually find her curled up with a good book or watching a true crime documentary.

Research consistently demonstrates that the combination of psychiatric medication and psychotherapy often produces better outcomes than either treatment alone for many mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and PTSD. While medications can help regulate symptoms and restore balance, therapy provides the tools and skills necessary to understand thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, fostering long-term resilience and lasting change.
My role is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based medication management while encouraging patients to engage in therapy when appropriate. I believe the most effective treatment addresses the whole person—not just symptoms—and that true healing occurs through a collaborative approach that combines biological, psychological, and lifestyle factors.
By working alongside therapists and other healthcare professionals, we can create a comprehensive plan that supports meaningful, sustainable improvements in mental health and overall quality of life.

Your first visit will focus on getting to know you. Together, we will discuss your medical history, family history, social history, current symptoms, and the goals you hope to achieve through treatment. Rather than simply checking boxes, I believe in having meaningful conversations that allow her to understand each patient as a whole person.
If medication management is appropriate, treatment options will be selected based on your diagnosis, preferences, and goals. Follow-up appointments will initially be scheduled more frequently to monitor effectiveness, address side effects, and make adjustments when needed. As the right medication and dosage are established, visits typically become less frequent. The ultimate goal is long-term symptom stability, improved quality of life, and helping patients feel like themselves again.
I strive to balance evidence-based medicine with compassionate, individualized care. I believe that the best outcomes are achieved through shared decision-making. Treatment plans are grounded in current guidelines and research while also considering each patient's preferences, lifestyle, values, and individual goals.
My goal is not simply to prescribe medication, but to provide patients with tools, education, and support that empower them to feel their best. I am committed to walking alongside my patients throughout their journey, offering guidance, insight, and personalized care every step of the way.
